May, 2014 Classes

Hello,

 Shop Hop is in its' last week so If you have not gone into the shops to see what Is happening, try to take some time and enjoy a day out. Final day to participate is May 10th.

 I am working on getting some new ideas together and on the schedule for classes in the upcoming months. Keep an eye out for updates and opportunities to learn something new or work on an old favorite.

 If you would like to request a class or technique, please contact the shop and we will try to work it into the schedule.

Hand Quilting with Mary

10 am - 4 pm- Mary $30.00

If you have been wanting to learn to hand quilt, you should see what Mary can teach you. She has a method that is easy on the hands and can encourage and help you to complete your project. The first class is a sample piece.  She is also available at other times; just call the shop to schedule your class.

Twisted Fibers

10am-4pm – Sandi - $10.00

The new Twisted Fibers project is a Spring wool crazy pieced wall hanging.  You will learn many embroidery stitches using the Sew Cherished method of transferring the stitching guide directly onto the fabric.  So if you’re a beginner, no worries!  Come and learn and enjoy the process of hand stitchery.  Feel free to bring your own project to work on if you prefer. This is a day without machines.

One Block Wonders, Encore

10am - 4pm - Clara - $30.00

This is an amazing quilt to make with one piece of fabric.  Adding some accents for tumbling blocks turns it into visual eye-candy. The photo does not do it justice. Clara is a delightful teacher with lots of patience and can explain the method clearly. She also has some techniques that make this complicated-looking quilt easy.

Block of the Month

10am - 4pm

This is a great time to come in for the day to work on your blocks and get caught up. Or come pick up your kit and work on your own. This month kits are for blocks #4 and 12. We should already have blocks 1 & 8, 2 & 9 and 3 &7 done. This month will put us past the half-done mark.

We will be making a 20” by 36” wall hanging based on a quilt in the current Quilt Trends magazine (Spring 2014). We will include half of the flowers, 3-d butterflies and the leaves, also 3-d, at the base of the flowers. (Pretty much as shown here.) Please sign up early as kits are limited. We are using some of our new, sparkly fabrics to give the project a shine.

Class Information

Bigfork Quilts, Etc. is located at 7571 Hwy 35, Bigfork, MT.  Class times are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. unless otherwise noted. The classroom will be open at 9:45 a.m. to allow for set-up. Please call (406) 837-7111 or email bigforkquiltsetc@gmail.com to reserve space and if you have any questions.  Class fees are payable by cash or check and must be received at least three days prior to class to secure your reserved space. If payment is not received, your reserved space can be given to a waitlisted student.  Please call at least 72 hours prior to class to cancel in order to receive a full refund.  A cancellation less than 72 hours prior to class will receive a store credit.  A minimum of three students is required for each class. Supply lists will be emailed upon class sign-up.

CLASS SCHEDULE

Every Thursday - Open Sew

The studio is open every Thursday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for Open Sew, with extended hours the 2^nd and 4^th Thursday until 6 p.m.  Bring your sewing machine and whatever project you're working on.  There is a large cutting table and extra large ironing board available for your use.

  

Hand Quilting Instruction Available

Mary Sanchez is available to provide hand quilting instruction for private or group lessons.  Hours available are Wednesday-Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost is $10/hr per person.  Please call to reserve time.

Interested in a Class?

If you and at least two other students are interested in taking a class on a topic of your choice and/or that fits your schedule, please let us know and we will be happy to set one up that works for you.  Private class sessions are also available.
