March, 2014 Classes

 Finally, there seems to be the promise of Spring In the air. Here In Bigfork we can see patches of ground!

 Our apologies for getting the newsletter out so late this month. We will work on being earlier so you are able to plan better.

Classes are our basics this month plus a class that is great for a beginning quilter or someone who wants a refresher course. Check out the class description for Turnstile.

Professional Tote Bag, part 1

10am-4pm – Sandi - $50

This is a great tote bag for carrying a laptop or taking on a trip.

There are plenty of pockets and zippers for organization and security. This will be a two part class. We will get the outside done in the first class. The class for the inside will be scheduled for the last week of this month or the first week in April.

Twisted Fibers Resumes

10am-4pm – Sandi - $10

The new Twisted Fibers project lead by Sandi is a Spring wool crazy pieced wall hanging.  You will learn many embroidery stitches using the Sew Cherished method of transferring the stitching guide directly onto the fabric.  So if you’re a beginner, no worries!  Come and learn and enjoy the process of hand stitchery.  A kit will be available. Feel free to bring your own project to work on if you prefer.

Visit your local quilt shop and let them know how much you appreciate having a local shop!

Turnstile

10am-4pm - Melanie - $30.00

Melanie will be teaching this class which is great for a beginner or someone wanting a refresher class. Turnstile is also a great pattern for a quick quilt. The block can be turned several ways to create a different look! Watch for follow-up classes on quilting and binding.

Spring Sprouts – Our NEW BOM

Sandi

  We have started our new Block of the Month and are using Edyta Sitars’ pattern, Spring Sprouts.You are not too late to sign up if you’d like. The cost is $25;  come and spend your 4^th Friday sewing with Sandi, or just come by to pick up that month’s block.  The blocks cost $10 per month with the 1^st and 7^th months’ costs at $22 for additional fabrics needed.  The pattern is $20. 

Every Thursday - Open Sew

The studio is open every Thursday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for Open Sew, with extended hours the 2^nd and 4^th Thursday until 6 p.m.  Bring your sewing machine and whatever project you're working on.  There is a large cutting table and extra large ironing board available for your use.

  

Longarm Quilting Machine for Rent

Bigfork Quilts, etc. is home to a longarm quilting machine available for rent.  Hours available are Wednesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. unless a class is scheduled. Cost is $50 a day.  Please call to reserve time.

Hand Quilting Instruction Available

Mary Sanchez is available to provide hand quilting instruction for private or group lessons.  Hours available are Wednesday-Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost is $10/hr per person.  Please call to reserve time.

Interested in a Class?

If you and at least two other students are interested in taking a class on a topic of your choice and/or that fits your schedule, please let us know and we will be happy to set one up that works for you.  Private class sessions are also available.
